Vodafone Qatar, the Titanium M2M Partner of the Middle East Smart Cities Conference, presented its vision and experience in deploying Smart City applications around the world and how it will bring this to Qatar.

Vodafone Qatar has aligned its goals to those of the Qatar 2030 Vision, therefore driving the Smart City deployments in Qatar is a key pillar of its success. Vodafone Qatar is investing now in its business to ensure it is ready for the large metropolitan projects currently being built in Doha.
Smart City applications focus on the optimisation of multiple parts of a city, from traffic and transport flow optimisation to reducing energy usage across a city to drive a green and responsible agenda.
George Galica, Head of Business Solutions, Vodafone Qatar discussed Smart City applications and some of Vodafone’s experience in the successful implementations of these applications which include the following.
Smart Transportation, an example of Vodafone Qatar and Al Million Taxi’s cooperation to deploy a smart taxi solution and Vodafone’s experience in Smart Mobility solutions from Europe, Smart Energy monitoring and reporting through its Smart Metering projects in New Zealand and Smart Street Lighting in The Netherlands. Intelligent digital signage was shown with eye-catching advertising powered by Vodafone, with thousands of screens across Europe in operation.

Vodafone Qatar and NetComm Wireless, recently announced a strategic partnership to extend Vodafone Qatar’s fixed and mobile networks to devices and machines which are used to enable Smart City applications.
